Part 1: The ending of I Rule the Wasteland Harem, explained

Wade ends the series as King of the Wasteland. The war against Boone’s gang is decided when the alien ring upgrades his weapon: with it, Wade defeats Boone and the high school bullies, Jasper and Graham, who had joined the gang. Before that, Margaret is kidnapped a second time, and the victory is only complete when he brings her back.

In the last stretch, the harem of the title closes: besides Margaret, Kate and Sally, Wade gains a fourth wife, Tyra, a queen with armed guards. The scavenger who traded scrap for cans now has weapons, medicine, food and men who call him Your Majesty.

What the series does not do is kill the system: the ring that handed out timed missions is what turns the reward rifle into the weapon that decides the war. The ending is the opening premise fulfilled, the suitable host using alien technology to rule the desert.

Part 2: The road to the ending of I Rule the Wasteland Harem

Episode 12

In 1 minute and 46 seconds, the Wasteland gang takes Margaret, who had stayed home with orders to lock the door and defend herself. Wade, Kate and Sally set out after the trail, and Wade repeats that she is alive. It is the first kidnapping; the second comes in the final stretch.

In 2 minutes and 15 seconds, the three find out Wade was right, and he walks alone into the gang’s junkyard fortress with his whole inventory to trade for Margaret. Boone, the leader and old neighbor, accepts and pretends to forget the deal.

Episode 14

In 1 minute, Boone says he never promised anything and orders his armed men to surround Wade, with Kate and Sally unable to fight. It is the episode that opens the war the ending closes, and the first where the AK rifle is an answer, not a reward.
