The Vampire Next Door: guide to the 14 free episodes (1 to 14)
The Vampire Next Door has 64 English-audio episodes; episodes 1 to 14 are free and paid access starts at 15. In the free arc, Cameron, who works at Two Scoops and insists his pizza night with Diane Jardine is a date, gets caught watching the woman house-sitting next door undress. She is Victoria, and she trades her silence for a ride. The ride ends with a man dead on his car, Victoria revealed as a vampire, and a deer story she tells his dad the next morning. Meanwhile Martin, who stood Diane up at prom, asks Cameron to get him a second chance, and in episode 14 Cameron agrees that Diane should give him one. Start with episode 1.
The Vampire Next Door is about Cameron, who scoops ice cream at Two Scoops, is in love with Diane Jardine, and spends the free episodes being blackmailed by the woman house-sitting next door. The series has 64 English-audio episodes, in order. Episodes 1 to 14 are free, no account needed; from 15 onward access is paid.
The free block runs about 17 and a half minutes, in episodes of 46 seconds to just over a minute and a half. In it come a phone in the street, a lit window, a pizza night that may or may not be a date, a ride to a building that's already closed, a dead man on a car hood, and a favor Cameron probably shouldn't have agreed to.
Part 1: Which are the 14 free episodes?
On 1 Minute Drama, The Vampire Next Door unlocks episodes 1 to 14 for free. That block covers Cameron's claim that he has a date with Diane Jardine, Chad's accusation and the broken phone, the window across from Cameron's bedroom, the pizza night where Martin turns up, Victoria's blackmail and the ride that ends in a killing, the deer story she tells Cameron's dad, and Martin's request for a second chance. Start at episode 1. Episodes run from about 46 seconds (episode 6) to about 1 minute 36 seconds (episode 11).
Episode 15 is where paid access begins. This guide stops at 14 and does not describe anything after it.

Part 2: What happens in episodes 1 to 14
Episodes 1 to 4 put two problems on the same street. The first is Diane. Nobody at Two Scoops believes Cameron has a date with her, and in episode 2 Chad's accusation that he was photographing her in a bikini costs Cameron his phone. The second is the window across from his bedroom, which he watches in the dark in episode 3 while telling his mom he's saving on the electric bill. His dad wishes he'd hit Chad; his mom says violence is never the answer. By the end of episode 4 the woman from the window is standing on his doorstep.
Episodes 5 to 7 are the pizza night that Cameron calls a date and Diane doesn't. She apologizes for doubting him about the photos and brings up the quarry. Then Cameron, of all people, waves over Martin, the guy who stood her up at prom. When she tells the prom story afterwards (the text, the pickup at seven, the hotel room), his answer about the tux and the poem "just for you" is closer to a confession than he seems to notice, and she files it under "just Cameron."
Episodes 8 to 12 belong to Victoria, although nobody says her name until 12. The blackmail is simple: a ride, or his parents hear about the window. Cameron isn't innocent here, since he admits "I kinda did," and the price turns out to be a dead man on a car he isn't insured to drive. She threatens him with the same trust she thanks him for. The next morning she gets him out of trouble with his dad with a deer story, then gets his dad to sign him up as her driver, insurance paid.
Episodes 13 and 14 go back to Diane. Martin shows up at Two Scoops asking for a second chance. Cameron tells him she'll probably say no, then delivers the message anyway, almost word for word. Diane's speech about being too scared to tell someone how you feel fits Cameron better than it fits Martin, and he lets it go by. The free block ends with him agreeing she should say yes.
Part 3: Characters in the 14 free episodes
Cameron ("Cam"). Works at Two Scoops Creamery. Tells Victoria he's "21, almost 21" before admitting he just turned 20. He calls pizza with Diane a date but tells Martin "we're not together." He watches the window next door, apologizes for it, and ends up as Victoria's driver.
Diane Jardine. The crush named in the series synopsis. She believes Cameron about the photos once she's read his texts, mentions the quarry and a night she meant to tell him "something really personal," and in episode 14 asks him whether to take Martin back.
Victoria. House-sitting for Miss Carpenter for a couple of weeks. She isn't named on screen until episode 12. She blackmails Cameron into a ride, kills a man in episode 10, covers for both of them with a deer story, and offers to pay his car insurance.
Martin. Diane's prom date, who stood her up; Cameron once tutored him in geometry. He walks out of the pizza place in episode 6 and turns up at Two Scoops in episode 13 asking Cameron for help.
Chad. Accuses Cameron of taking pictures of Diane in episode 2 and calls him a perv. Cameron's phone doesn't survive the scene.
Cameron's parents. His dad wants him to stand up for himself and ends up arranging the driving deal with Victoria. His mom sides with Cameron over the phone. Neither is named in the free episodes.
Two Scoops and Miss Carpenter. Cameron's boss and a coworker with braids appear in episodes 1 and 13 without names. Miss Carpenter, who owns the house next door, is only mentioned.
Part 4: Episode-by-episode guide to the 14 free
One note per episode, in order, from free playback only. Quotes are from the English subtitle track and the episode audio. Nothing after episode 14 is described.
Episode 1
Cameron's boss at Two Scoops wants him to close tonight, and Cameron says he can't: he has a date with Diane Jardine. The boss doesn't buy it ("There is no way that you have a date with Diane Jardine"), and the coworker who now has to close in his place asks how he even knows her. "We're friends." Then Diane is in bed with him saying "Last night was amazing," he tells her "I love you, Diane Jardine," and he wakes up alone. The last shot is the house next door and a woman with long dark hair, seen from behind.
Episode 2
Diane is sunbathing in a backyard when Chad catches Cameron with his phone out: "You taking pictures of Diane?" Cameron says he was texting her. "He's a perv." A few seconds later the phone is lying in the street beside a car tire, its screen shattered. "It's ruined." Chad says he was protecting her "from the little creep," and Diane points him home. Then she turns to Cameron: "Were you taking pictures of me?"
Episode 3
His answer is the worst one available: "No, why would I want a photo of you?" That night he sits in his dark bedroom watching a lit window across the way, where a dark-haired woman is undressing. His mom opens the door and asks why he's sitting in the dark. "You're always complaining about the electric bill. I'm just doing my part."
Episode 4
Dinner. His dad is not buying him another phone; his mom says it wasn't Cameron's fault this time. His dad wishes he had punched the kid ("Just once I'd like to see you stand up for yourself"), and his mom answers that violence is never the answer. The doorbell rings. Cameron opens the door to the pale woman in a black dress with a white collar, staring at him out of the dark. "Oh shit..."
Episode 5
When he looks again, it's Diane on the step. "Did you see someone standing here when you walked up?" "No." Pizza is still on. In the car she apologizes, because she has seen his texts, and points out that he has "already seen me naked twice," so why would he need bikini photos? The first time was at the quarry, when her top came off after a jump ("I totally saw you staring" / "I didn't see anything"). At the pizza place Cameron spots Martin and waves him over ("I tutored him in geometry") while Diane asks what he thinks he's doing.
Episode 6
Martin says hi, stalls and leaves: "I'm going to go." Diane: "Thanks a lot, Cameron." "What'd I do?" She drives him home without explaining, says she'll see him tomorrow, then comes back to the car to say it: "He stood me up."
Episode 7
She asked Martin to prom; he said "Uh, hi, yeah, sure" and walked away. She texted him that she'd pick him up at seven, and there was a hotel room booked, "just in case." Cameron tells her what he would have done: a black and white tux, flowers, and "a poem I wrote, just for you." She hears it as kindness: "You're never playing an angle. You're just Cameron." "Just Cameron." He asks about the second time he saw her naked. She says he'd had a lot to drink, and that she was going to share "something really personal" with him that night.
Episode 8
He bolts ("I gotta go" / "You don't have to be embarrassed"). At home the window next door is lit again and he ducks. Then the woman is standing in his bedroom: "We need to talk." "Do you like watching me undress?" He says no, then "I kinda did," with a toy lightsaber still in his hand. He thought only old Miss Carpenter lived there. She is watching the house while Miss Carpenter is away. "I'm sorry I saw you naked."
Episode 9
She needs a ride: "help me out and we're even." His car can't be driven until he pays the insurance. "That's not really my problem, is it?" The alternative is telling his parents about "your little voyeur issue." The next shot is Cameron driving her through the night. Her boyfriend? "He's dead." He says he's "21, almost 21," then admits he just turned 20. When he asks her age, she gives him directions to a parking lot instead.
Episode 10
The place is closed. She asks for his keys ("I don't really want you to leave me here, do I?") and walks to the glass door. Cameron gets out and presses his face to the glass. A man in a blue shirt bursts out, runs across the lot and pounds on the car window with bloody hands, "Help me! Let me in!", while she walks out of the building after him. The episode ends on blood around her mouth.
Episode 11
The man is dead across Cameron's car. "Okay, you killed that guy and he's on the car." She orders him in, notes that he seems stressed, and tells him he'll need to relax "if you're gonna be my driver." He reminds her she said one ride. "And now I trust you." "Oh, crap, you're a vampire." What happens if he loses her trust? "Well, I think you just saw what happens." Back at the house she thanks him, kisses his cheek and goes. Cameron, alone: "Kiss of death."
Episode 12
His dad wants to know how blood got all over the car. Cameron gets as far as "You're not gonna believe this, but..." when the woman walks up in a red dress and says good morning, and his dad greets her by name: Victoria, house-sitting for Miss Carpenter for a couple of weeks. It is the first time anyone says her name. Her story is a deer that hit the car, bled, and then got up and ran away, and she says Cam made her feel so much better. ("My Cameron?") His dad didn't hear a thing. She offers to pay the car insurance this month if Cam drives her on errands, and his dad says he can start today. Cameron has work. Tonight, then, around 8:00 PM: "That's great, it's a date."
Episode 13
At Two Scoops, Cameron retells the pizza night at Benny Pineros and his boss says something's not right with the story. The coworker announces "some weirdo outside" looking for him. It's Martin. He knows Cameron and Diane aren't together, and he confesses: "her hotness freaked me out," he bailed, and "her face and her body make me stupid." Cameron: "Yeah, that's fair, you're kind of a dick." Martin wants a second chance and says he'd owe him big. Cameron agrees to talk to her and warns him she'll probably say no. "I wouldn't get your hopes up."
Episode 14
On Diane's front steps Cameron delivers the message nearly word for word, including "your face and body make him stupid." She thinks that's sort of sweet; he reminds her Martin stood her up on prom night. Then she asks whether he has ever been so attracted to someone that he fumbles for words and just hopes "someday they'll notice you and fall in love?", and the camera cuts to Cameron. "Should I give Martin another chance? Well, of course you do. That's why you told me, right?" "Yeah." The free block ends on that "Yeah," with Victoria's 8:00 PM arrangement from episode 12 still hanging.
