Part 1: The story of Altarboy Dailymotion
Altarboy Dailymotion opens on a rejection. Matthew Martin, a member of the parish council, leaves his eighteen-year-old son Theo at Sacred Heart because the boy came out, and expects the church to send back someone else. Theo tries to leave the town and is attacked in an alley. Father Alexander, the new head priest, pulls him out.
The priest is young and good-looking, and Theo notices. Alexander is also harsh: his position depends on Theo’s father, so he makes Theo his personal altar boy and demands respect for the house of God. He gets a confession instead: Theo, convinced the priest is gay after overhearing a nun, tells him in the booth what he feels and what he wants. The priest punishes him, then confesses the same thing to an empty room while Theo listens outside.
Order matters in this series more than in most. Each episode runs a minute or two and ends on a line the next one answers: the drop-off, the rescue, the altar-boy deal, the nun, the confession, the punishment, the overheard confession, the confrontation. Out of sequence, the reveals come before the questions.
The end is a declaration in church, in front of Theo’s father: Alexander gives up the priesthood for Theo, Theo gives up on his father, and the two leave together.
