Bella, a Sacred Maiden, has grown up with Grandma’s warning to keep clear of serpents. While gathering mushrooms in the forest, she relies on a bracelet she believes can hide her scent. Instead, she encounters a badly injured man under attack from werewolves and saves him. Only afterward does he identify himself as Silvan, the Silver Serpent King, leaving Bella to wonder whether she can get away from the danger she has unknowingly entered. Silvan claims Bella as his bride, appearing at her wedding to make his choice public. Hoping to escape him, Bella places her trust in her childhood sweetheart, but that trust leads to betrayal and a deadly sacrifice. As Bella is hunted and pushed toward death, Silvan becomes the person standing between her and those who would use her. Their struggle brings hidden identities, fear, and the possibility of redemption into conflict.
