Liam Holland and Annie Jones begin as a young couple, but their relationship is upended when Liam intervenes to protect Annie from an attempted assault. His actions leave him facing a seven-year prison sentence. Inside prison, he holds to a promise: when he is free, he will marry Annie. Yet when he sees that she is no longer wearing her engagement ring, painful questions arise about whether she has already chosen to leave him. Six years later, their lives appear far apart. Liam is the wealthy Holland heir, while Annie works as a janitor and raises Henry, the son whose existence she has kept from him. Annie stays away because she fears for Henry’s safety and carries guilt over the decision that separated them. Though Liam resents her, he continues to protect her and seeks a way back into her life, turning his attention to Henry as he confronts the misunderstanding surrounding their broken engagement.
