That afternoon a dark-haired woman pulls up to the house next door. Cameron doesn't know it yet, but it's the last day Diane will be his only problem.

Part 1: The story of The Vampire Next Door
Chad accuses Cameron of taking pictures of Diane in a bikini, and Cameron's phone ends up shattered in the street. That night the window next door is lit, and Cameron watches the new woman undress. He doesn't look away. At dinner his mom refuses to buy him another phone and his dad wishes, out loud, that he'd stand up for himself for once. Then there's a knock: the neighbor, pale, standing at the front door.
When Diane shows up minutes later, the woman is gone. Diane saw Cameron's texts and came to apologize. They split a pizza, she brings up the quarry, and for a moment the dream from the creamery looks possible. Then Cameron does something hard to explain. He waves Martin over. Martin, the guy who stood Diane up at prom.
Cameron spends these first episodes between two women and isn't straight with either. He watches one through a window. For the other he had a tux, flowers and a poem written "just for you" that he never handed over. At episode 5 he still thinks Diane is his biggest problem. No spoilers for the ending.
