Part 1: The full Sold to the Warlord Born for the Sky story

The first act is a kingdom going under. Skybound, the North, was once the land of dragon callers; for a hundred years no dragon has answered, and without them every war is lost. King Halgar hands Cassia to Ravek, the warlord who rides dragons at the head of the Blackclaw horde. She travels like livestock, with the iron cuff that marks ownership, takes the vows of the binding ceremony and is stood before his dragon in the Proving. It bows. Cassia is queen.

The second act is the queen under attack. Lothar, her ex-fiancé, attacks her; Ravek arrives with his beast, punishes him before the whole kingdom and then walks through dragonfire with his own body to seal the binding. Drusilla, the warlord’s lover, humiliates Cassia whenever she can and loses every contest. In episode 13 Cassia catches the two together; instead of running, she claims her husband in front of the mistress, and Ravek starts teaching her to call dragons.

The third act is war. Borin, leader of the Frostkin clan, kidnaps Cassia with a diversion and the Frost Dragons; she lets herself be taken, predicting what Ravek will do, and he crosses into Frostkin lands. In the battle Cassia awakens the power in her blood, severs the Frost Dragons’ bond to Borin and reveals herself as the strongest dragon caller. The couple’s kiss seals the victory and a thousand years of peace, and the question open since the first episode — was she really a dragonless princess? — is answered.
