Part 1: The story of Not the Bride He Wanted
Vivian always has a reason. Their father, Callan, picked her for Lucian because she "doesn't have a wolf," and Asher believes she lost that wolf saving his life when they were kids. It's an old debt, and Vivian knows how to collect. When Lucian turns up early at the Kane house, he looks at both sisters and makes his own call: "I want her to be our bride." He isn't pointing at Vivian. If Blackwater doesn't hand over a bride, he'll swallow the pack whole.
Layla overhears her stepmother Eva insist that "Layla is the oldest," and Callan answer that forcing the late Luna's daughter would start a revolt. Nobody asks Layla. So she volunteers: "Vivian can have Asher. I will marry Lucian." Her one condition is that the switch stays secret until the double wedding, even from Asher. Callan says he's proud of her. She lets that sit.
The secret costs her almost at once. Asher, knowing nothing, accuses her of pushing Vivian into Lucian's arms and cuts her with his claws. He comes back with herbs for the scar, but only to ask her to stop "forcing" Vivian. One sentence would end it. Layla keeps quiet. By episode 5 the swap is set and nobody on Asher's side knows. No spoilers for the ending.
