Part 2: What happens in episodes 1 to 14
Episodes 1 to 3 set up a debt and a threat. The debt is Vivian's wolf, which Asher believes she lost saving him when they were young, and which he invokes when he says marrying Layla "means nothing" next to Vivian's happiness. The threat is Lucian Wolfe. He arrives early, is said to have killed ten brides, and makes clear that if he leaves without a bride he will swallow the Blackwater Pack whole. Asher's answer to Layla is that the Moon Goddess chose their bond, he didn't.
Episodes 4 and 5 are the decision. Eva Kane wants her own daughter spared and says the eldest should go. Callan worries about a revolt if the dead Luna's daughter is sent, then thanks Layla when she volunteers, "as if I'm not your own daughter, too." Layla's one condition, that nobody tells Asher until after the double wedding, is what makes the rest of the free arc work. It is generous, and it is also a little bit of revenge.
Episodes 6 to 11 run on Asher not knowing. He accuses Layla of pushing Vivian into Lucian's arms, cuts her, brings her a salve, and asks her to go easy on Vivian in the same visit. Vivian defaces the old Luna's portrait, admits to Layla that she never lost her wolf, and drags her over a stair railing while shouting that Layla pushed her. Asher is sure he is the one saving people, so he marks Vivian at the hot spring to make her unmarriageable. Layla feels it, both their wolves protest, and he tells her, a little too honestly, that marrying her is his only route to becoming Alpha.
Episodes 12 to 14 are the wedding day. Layla signs a covenant in her own blood that severs the bond "when your mate opens the covenant," swaps gowns, and under a black veil gives Asher a gift with instructions not to open it yet. He thinks she sounds different. Lucian threatens him and calls his own bride Vivian Kane. At the other altar, Asher tells the white veil "Layla, you win," and the free block ends before anyone lifts it.
Part 3: Characters in the 14 free episodes
Layla Kane. Daughter of the Blackwater Pack's late Luna, who died saving the pack. Asher's fated mate, due to make him Alpha by marrying him. She volunteers to marry Lucian in Vivian's place, keeps it secret even from Asher, and signs the covenant that rejects him.
Asher Veyron. Layla's mate and the Alpha-in-waiting. He believes Vivian lost her wolf saving him as a child, which he treats as a debt. He hurts Layla, apologizes, and marks Vivian, all while telling himself he's protecting the pack. His own wolf disagrees with him twice.
Vivian Kane. Layla's half-sister, promised to Lucian as his eleventh bride. She tells everyone she has no wolf and admits to Layla in episode 8 that she does. She weeps in public and threatens in private ("Watch this and suffer, Layla").
Lucian Wolfe. Alpha of the Ravenfang Pack, who is rumored to have killed his last ten brides and took over Ravenfang at 14. He arrives early, prefers Layla on sight, and in episode 14 calls the bride in his car "Vivian Kane."
Callan Kane. Alpha of Blackwater and father of both sisters. He agrees to the secret swap and, in episode 13, entrusts "my daughter" to Lucian knowing which one it is.
Eva Kane. Vivian's mother and the current Luna. She argues that "Layla is the oldest" and should be the one to go, and accuses Layla of stealing the love of Vivian's life.

Episode 1
Layla Kane has three days left before she marries Asher Veyron, the mate her wolf chose, and he takes over the Blackwater Pack as Alpha with her as his Luna. Then she walks in on her half-sister Vivian begging him: "Do it, Asher. Please, take my virginity." Vivian is promised to Lucian, who is rumored to have "tortured ten brides to death," and she says their father picked her "because I don't have a wolf." She pulls a dagger ("If I die, I wanna die on my own terms!"), and Asher stops it by grabbing the blade, bleeding through his fingers. The wolf is the debt. He says she lost it saving him "when we were young," and a flashback goes back to that night in the forest. "Marrying Layla means nothing compared to your happiness." Layla, from the doorway: "How could you throw it all away for my half-sister?" Vivian, to herself: "he'll always choose me." Boots on the floor behind Layla, and a man's voice: "Is that my bride in your mate's arms?"
Episode 2
The voice belongs to Lucian Wolfe, Alpha of the Ravenfang Pack, "the most dominant, dangerous Alpha alive." Layla's narration fills in the rest: their father was "so desperate for Ravenfang's protection" that he agreed to give Vivian to Lucian as his eleventh bride. Lucian says he is staying until he can make sure he gets his bride. With the camera on Layla, a voice says "I like this woman better than the other one. I want her to be our bride," and Lucian adds that he doesn't care who his bride is, "or do I?" If he gets no bride, he "wouldn't mind swallowing your entire pack whole." Layla, alone: "The pack must be protected."
Episode 3
Layla confronts them: "Do you want to tell me why your hands are all over Alpha Lucian's future bride?" If Vivian leaves Lucian at the altar, he will wipe out the whole Blackwater Pack. Asher turns it around. Layla is "protected by your mother's legacy," has "led an incredibly privileged life," and Vivian is the one sacrificing everything. When Layla invokes the Moon Goddess, he says "Well, the Moon Goddess chose, not me!" He still means to marry Layla as planned, and he still means to stop Vivian's wedding, "even if that means I have to defy the Moon Goddess." Layla: "Then she is all yours."
Episode 4
Vivian cries to her parents ("I'm not strong like Layla"). Her mother, Eva Kane, says Lucian took over Ravenfang at 14 by overthrowing its Alpha, and that "Layla is the oldest. If anyone should do it, it should be her." Alpha Callan Kane points out that Layla's mother, the old Luna, died saving the pack, and forcing her daughter to go would start a revolt. Eva doesn't care. Layla is listening from an archway, and she has already done the math: if Vivian runs, Lucian tears the pack apart. Eva tells her she stole "the love of your sister's life." "My sister? No, my mother only had me." Then: "Vivian can have Asher. I will marry Lucian."
Episode 5
Callan is "proud" of her and offers her any last request. She points out that he is thanking her for taking Vivian's place "as if I'm not your own daughter, too." Her condition is secrecy: "No one knows that Vivian and I have switched places. Not even Asher," not until after the double wedding in three days. There's one problem, which is that she already has a mate bond with Asher. "I will take care of it." Vivian is thrilled that Asher will find out she's the one marrying him. Layla, alone, asks the question the rest of the free arc keeps putting off: "Asher, if you found out that I wasn't your bride anymore, would you regret it?"
Episode 6
Asher has heard that Callan refused to delay the wedding and that Vivian is now marrying Lucian the same day. He decides Layla is behind it: "You pushed Vivian into this marriage so you could keep your picture-perfect fairytale wedding." She can't tell him the truth, so she says the only thing she can: get ready, and "trust me that it will be exactly how you want it." Vivian says she has "already accepted my fate," which works on him. In the scuffle that follows, Asher's claws cut Layla. "For the first time, you showed me your claws. But not to protect me, to hurt me."
Episode 7
Asher's own wolf takes Layla's side ("How could you hurt our mate for another woman?"). Later he comes to her door with a salve he made from herbs he picked in the forest, "so it shouldn't scar," and for a moment it works: "You're so sweet." Then he asks her to stop "being so hard on Vivian" and not to force her to marry Lucian. "Get out. Just get out." Vivian has been watching: "before you meet your fate, I'm gonna strip away every little shred of dignity you have left."
Episode 8
Vivian has the servants destroy "every last thing that belongs to that whore," tears up a photo of Layla and Asher, and promises to spend her own wedding night "in your bed with your mate." Layla finds a red X across her mother's portrait. "Your mother is dead. My mother is the Luna now." They fight, and Layla notices how strong Vivian is: "You said that you lost your wolf." "Oh, please. I only said that so Asher would feel sorry for me." As Asher comes up the stairs, Vivian grabs Layla and goes over the railing, taking her along and shouting "Sister, don't push me!"
Episode 9
Mid-fall Vivian screams "Asher, help! I don't have a wolf. I'll die!" and smirks. Layla's wolf flares up around her as a glowing shape. Asher catches Vivian, and Layla hits the floor. Layla tells him the truth ("She does have a wolf. She's been lying to you"), and it lands as jealousy: "You are nothing! Nothing compared to Vivian." Vivian blames herself for having asked Layla to look after him once she's gone, and Asher threatens to take it to the elders. Layla ends it on her side: "The love that I had for you, it is all dead and gone."
Episode 10
Callan now insists the wedding goes ahead tomorrow, and Asher wants Layla to apologize to Vivian. She won't, but she agrees to go ahead with the wedding "as planned," which is true in a way he doesn't understand. He warns her that if Lucian touches a hair on Vivian's head, Layla pays. That night, at the hot spring, Vivian says she wishes she could be his bride instead, and he answers: "Let me mark you."
Episode 11
His reasoning is that a marked Vivian is a bride Lucian might refuse. "Layla would understand." Vivian, over his shoulder: "Watch this and suffer, Layla." Two wolves object at once, Layla's ("Our mate, he's betrayed us") and Asher's ("She's not our mate. We can't mark her!"), and Layla goes down in pain. Asher is sorry; he didn't realize "it was gonna hurt that much." She tells him she is breaking their bond. He is angry, but not about Vivian: "The only way for me to become the Alpha to protect our pack is if I marry you." "Asher, after tomorrow, we will never meet again."
Episode 12
The covenant is a paper signed in blood, and the rule is said on screen: "When your mate opens the covenant, the bond will be severed." "I, Layla Kane, reject you, Asher Veyron." On the wedding morning the maid hands out the gowns according to the plan everyone else still believes, and Vivian claims Layla's ("That's mine"). Layla goes to Lucian's wedding under a black veil. "Have a nice wedding night, sis." Asher finds the veiled bride and, believing she's Vivian, promises to rescue her from Ravenfang. She gives him a gift and tells him not to open it until after the wedding. "You sound different." "I, uh, didn't sleep well." He wonders why "Vivian" isn't sobbing in his arms.
Episode 13
Asher asks Lucian to treat Vivian well, "and if you harm her..." Lucian could "easily turn this wedding into your funeral," and then take his bride and "make her forget you even exist." Callan, who knows exactly which daughter is under the black veil, entrusts "my daughter" to Lucian. "From now on, she belongs to me... In life or death."
Episode 14
Asher is told to know his place, and Callan apologizes to Lucian for "his impudence." Then Asher's chest seizes: "My heart! Why does it ache like this? Something's gone wrong." In the car, Lucian speaks to his bride for the first time: "Vivian Kane, right? ... One step out of line, I'll send you to an early grave. Drive." At the other altar, "You may now kiss the bride," and Asher says to the white veil: "Layla, you win. You used the Moon Goddess and your status in our pack to chain me to your side forever." The free block ends with his hand at the veil and the gift still unopened.
